Ceilidh dancing! Oh what fun!

Posted by on May 3, 2011
ceilidh (ˈkeɪlɪ)
n
(esp in Scotland and Ireland) an informal social gathering with folk music, singing, dancing, and storytelling

Let me just start off by saying that the Scottish know how to party!  Tim and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary on April 3rd, but decided there needed to be a proper Scottish celebration as well!  Last year, we were married on the day before Easter, which just happened to be April 3rd.  We hoped to get married on Easter Day, but understandably, our wedding venue staff wanted to be with their family on Easter instead of hosting our wedding… :)   So, given that Easter is on a different weekend every year, we’ve decided that’s license for us to celebrate our marriage twice each year- once on April 3rd and again on Easter weekend!  I must say… we set the bar high this year. Since our friends here didn’t get to come to our wedding, we decided to host a ceilidh here at Stanely House on the day before Easter. We kicked the evening off with a pot luck dinner, followed by a few hours of dancing, and concluded it with some storytelling, and guitar playing.  A fine night it was, and here are some pictures to prove it!
