Hey everybody! So Caroline and I are back in Romania with the DTS, Wahooooooooo! Here is the team blog that one of the students is updating every couple of days when we have internet. www.peregrinati.weebly.com
So we have been away for a bit but only because there has been sooooo much going on! The DTS is going great and we have had amazing teachers talking about so many things side by side with adventures and events! Here are a couple of videos from some of our recent events.
Both of those videos were made by some of the young people involved with the events. The Create Change week was amazing to see and hear the things that God did in their lives while they were here with us.
The DTS is starting a 2 week outreach to Paisley tomorrow! So please be praying with us for this time. Our hope, like always is to share the truth and the Love of God with our friends and the people in Paisley. Our theme is going to be “You Make Paisley Beautiful.” We will have a photo display downtown about the people here and that they make this a great city. Along with that we will be doing lots of other small activities to reach out to the people around us to let them know they are loved. We will spend some time at nursing homes, picking up garbage, helping neighbors with yard work, baking goodies to give away and things of the sort. Stay tuned for more pictures and updates.

| (esp in Scotland and Ireland) an informal social gathering with folk music, singing, dancing, and storytelling | |
Let me just start off by saying that the Scottish know how to party! Tim and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary on April 3rd, but decided there needed to be a proper Scottish celebration as well! Last year, we were married on the day before Easter, which just happened to be April 3rd. We hoped to get married on Easter Day, but understandably, our wedding venue staff wanted to be with their family on Easter instead of hosting our wedding…
So, given that Easter is on a different weekend every year, we’ve decided that’s license for us to celebrate our marriage twice each year- once on April 3rd and again on Easter weekend! I must say… we set the bar high this year. Since our friends here didn’t get to come to our wedding, we decided to host a ceilidh here at Stanely House on the day before Easter. We kicked the evening off with a pot luck dinner, followed by a few hours of dancing, and concluded it with some storytelling, and guitar playing. A fine night it was, and here are some pictures to prove it!
We had our first Create gathering this past Friday, and it was awesome! But before I tell you about how awesome it was, I’ll give a little background on what Create is since many of you aren’t familiar with it.
(For even more info about CREATE click HERE.)
Create is an open mic night that we, along with some friends from local churches, host for the kids in town. Over the past few years, our community has connected with the kids in town and looking for a way to bless them and love on them. Through getting to know the kids, they realized more and more that music was something they were all into, and something they were good at. Given that a lot of them come from homes that aren’t very supportive, our community wanted to encourage them in their music, and provide a safe, fun place for them to hang out. All that said, a night at Create consists of 8-10 bands of kids that each get to play about 3 songs each. There’s the occasional mosh pit, of course, because what would a night of jammin’ out be without a mosh pit?
This Create was the first Create I’ve been to since the very first one almost 2 years ago! It was SO much fun to see how much its grown over the past couple years. Here’s a few reasons why this one was particularly great:
1. New location! We have been so blessed to have the local university open their student union for us to use. Create was meeting at a local church, but has really outgrown the space there. The new venue is huge, set-up perfectly for our needs, and has the feel of a real music venue. Yay!
2. 400+ kids! Yep, that’s a lot.
3. Way less underage drinking! We now have a zero-tolerance policy due to some recent hiccups, and a lot of the kids really got behind us on this. It seems they are realizing that we are for them, not against them, and therefore the things we enforce are also for them. Double yay!

After a few days back in Scotland, Tim and I took off to the Isle of Arran for some much-needed alone time. Yes, we extroverts need it badly sometimes! Especially after 2.5 months of traveling around the country cramming in as much quality time with all of you as possible
Arran is known around here as “Scotland in miniature,” and is really a gorgeous place to visit if you find yourself in the UK someday. Our trip was simply splendid, humorous, restful and tiring all at the same time! We spent 5 days camping in a lovely area- Glen Rosa- and were the ONLY ones there, other than some territorial pheasants and a little colony of bunnies. Does it get any better than that? Why, yes, it does! Here are a few highlights of our week: visiting the Arran cheese shop and Arran distillery, hiking to the top of Goatfell (Arran’s highest peak), hitching a ride with some amiable locals, tracking down the ONLY chippy on the island to satisfy our deep craving for fish and chips, falling asleep to the sound of a bubbling stream, and receiving discounts for being brave enough to go camping in Scotland during March! We are now back at Stanely House and getting into the full swing of things around here! Stay tuned for more on what life around here looks like. Blessings!
We survived! Where we are staying outside Chicago got around 19 inches of snow with 40-50 mile an hour wind gusts! We are hoping to get on the road tomorrow mid morning and now it looks like that will happen. It was a crazy night. This morning we went out for a walk and took some pictures. Be sure to check them out on the picture page HERE.
Wow, what a year! This has indeed been a season of rest for us… but from the outside looking in, it probably doesn’t seem that way! We have spent our year just as we planned, by hiding away in the hills of southern Colorado, spending precious time with each other, and with our friends and family.
As you may remember, we were blessed with a place to live in Colorado AND with work for the year. We spent our time in Boncarbo, Colorado learning new skills and practicing old ones while remodeling a lovely little cabin for two dear friends. I (Caroline) now know how to mix concrete, caulk, and cut down trees, among other things! Tim, of course, already knew many of these practical skills, but was able to practice more advanced talents such as electrical wiring, laying tile, plumbing, and pest management! I have no doubt that this was all part of God’s plan to prepare us for life in some remote corner of the world.
In addition to working and resting together in CO, we were blessed to spend time with LOTS of loved ones. Many of you traveled to spend time with us in our first home, and we were able to travel to see many more- each of us meeting many friends and family for the first time! This year we have found ourselves in Iowa, Georgia, Colorado, South Dakota, Arizona, North Carolina, Alaska, New Mexico, Romania and MORE! We are SO thankful that we were able to do so much. We feel strongly that our relationships with you are crucial to our “going”- so what a blessing to spend time with many of you! Our desire is that we would be members of the body of Christ as described in Romans 12- remaining connected with the rest of the body while carrying out our unique function. It’s quite relieving, actually, to know that we’re all in this thing together… that we are indeed one body, working together, joined in the love of Christ.
I, Tim, can hardly believe that 2010 is over! It’s a bit sad leaving everyone again, but also very exciting as we begin our journey back overseas. We are currently in Iowa and will be heading to Illinois at the end of the month (Jan) to see all of our friends there. After that we will head to Georgia and spend about 6 weeks with Caroline’s family & friends. This will be our last stop before we head back to Scotland.
While in Scotland, we will continue to work with the same churches, programs and youth events that I have worked with for the previous 3 years. In addition, I will also be leading the Discipleship Training School for 2011. This is a first for me, as in the past I have helped with the DTS but never lead the school. Caroline will be attending the course as well as helping me out where she can. This course starts in June and runs through November. Like the previous years, we will take students from the course to Romania with us in October and November.
As we head back overseas it also means the end of “paid work.” It still means plenty of work, just not the paid kind!
Everyone in YWAM, as most of you know, is completely self-funded. So, as we head back overseas it is in complete trust that God will continue to provide for us through the support of you, our friends and family, the Body of Christ. Please pray for us and that we would receive the needed finances to do the things and live the way God has called us to. If you have any questions about how this works, or would like to support us financially or in prayer, please just send us an email! (Click HERE to read more about supporting us financially)
Thank you all so much for your continued support. It has been so great getting to see so many of you this year!
So I think we finally got the photo page up and running. Wow, that was way to much work! The way this should work is every time we send out a news letter or have some fun thing happen to us, we will post a new album. Then you come look at the web page and click on it to see the pictures. Sounds simple… hopefully it works
OK, so I’m in need of Ideas! I thought we were getting something together for Christmas… not sure why that’s just what I thought. Turns out I’m wrong. Apparently we have already discussed it and we are each getting each other a little something. I found it out this morning when I tried to look at the computer but I was told to go away because she was looking at presents for me!! Suck! She is already shopping and I don’t even have a clue where to start! All the hints she has apparently dropped in the last few weeks I heard but did not file away. Now she won’t tell me what they were! Thankfully I have a bit of time on my side but all you friends of hers, if you have over heard anything she might want for Christmas (other than a non-forgetful husband:-) feel free to chime in!
Cheers,
Tim

Hello Again! It has been a while, but for good reason I assure you! The last time you heard from me it was January and I had just returned from Romania, A LOT has happened since then. First off Caroline and I got married on the day before Easter and it was beyond wonderful! Because of that, from now on we will be telling you about US and what WE are doing instead of just me! ![]()
After the wedding, we set off on our honeymoon in the Great Smoky Mountains. After a week full of relaxing and fun we road tripped across America to Colorado, our temporary home. We are staying in a perfect little log cabin that some friends of ours own outside Trinidad. In exchange for staying here we are providing the labor to remodel the place. We have so enjoyed it out here seeing every animal Colorado has to offer, even a bear encounter! We were only here a few short weeks before we drove all the way back to Georgia to see Caroline’s family, met up with some friends and flew back to Romania. We were in Romania for 12 days- just long enough for Caroline to get a feel for the place, meet up with friends, and gain a lot of information about our future steps towards making that our home one day.
Upon returning from Romania we drove to Iowa for a visit with my family. While there we also picked up 9 chickens from McMurray Hatchery (Thanks again!)for us to raise and begin learning how to live the simple country life.
From there we drove back to Colorado (chickens and all) where we have been ever since. We have already had one friend from GA come out to see us here and have spent many a good time with all of our friends here in Trinidad. The reason you have not heard from us much is because our house does not have a phone, our cell phones do not work out here and we just got internet last week! Still no phones, but we can send emails now.
We have a good bit of traveling we plan to do this year and plenty of work on our little house that still needs to be done, but we are taking our time, relaxing, enjoying friends, and most of all enjoying one another. We are also just starting to look into a new passport for Caroline and all the visa stuff involved in moving back to Scotland for a season while Caroline does her DTS. Time does go by quickly, but we’re not bothered, life is good.
God’s provision is still so amazing even in this season of rest. God is sooooo good! Please continue to pray for us, our time here in the US, our steps back to Scotland, and our eventual steps to Romania. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and friendship!
Before I sign off, I would like to introduce you to an amazing, incredible, intelligent, resourceful, godly, and unbelievably beautiful woman, my wife, Caroline… Say something, Gorgeous! ![]()
Hey y’all! Well, Tim has shared about the adventures and happenings in our life as of late, but there is one thing that only I can share with you… what a joy and blessing it is to be Mrs. Tim Bailey! You all have watched Tim grow up in the Lord, poured into him, loved him, and prayed for him… which has made him into the wonderful, godly husband that he is. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Many of you I have had the privilege of meeting already, and the rest of you I look forward to meeting and sharing life with you in the days to come.
Our time in Romania, although brief, was perfect for my first experience of the country. I found myself feeling at home right from the start- which is good since I kind of committed to moving there when I said “I do!” For the last 4 years or so, God has been developing in me a love for the people of India and their European descendants, the Roma or Gypsy people. I am thrilled about the life and ministry that awaits us in Romania with these beautiful people, and the Romanian people as well. But, until that time comes, I love being tucked away in the hills of Colorado, spending my time with my new hubby, with many of you, and learning to live a slower, more simple life…
Thank you again!
Love,
Tim and Caroline
